How it works

Plainlyst reads a company’s privacy policy so you do not have to.

Four steps, in order

  1. We read the policy Plainlyst reads a company’s published privacy documents in full.
  2. We find what is worth knowing Every disclosure is reviewed, and the ones that change what a reasonable person would expect are kept.
  3. We explain it, with the source Each finding gets a plain sentence, why it matters, and the company’s own wording underneath it.
  4. We show what you can do Where published privacy or settings documentation describes a real setting, Plainlyst reads it and publishes the steps — including what it does not change.

What we hold ourselves to

  • Official sources only. Every finding is read out of a company’s own published privacy documents.
  • The wording is kept. The sentence a finding came from is shown with it, so you can check us.
  • We publish conservatively. Where the wording does not support a finding, we leave it out rather than soften it.
  • We do not grade anybody. No scores, no rankings, no safe-or-unsafe. Counts and comparisons only.

What that adds up to today

95 companies read in full, 8,640 reviewed findings, and 857 privacy settings verified against published privacy or settings documentation — the company’s own, or the device maker’s.
